Update: Closing this topic as non-applicable now that we’re on Discord.
One of our goals is for people to have full access to YPC communications even if they’re not on Slack. Instead, we want everyone to be able to interact 100% through email if they wanted to.
Our #_announcements channel in Slack is particularly important because the biggest news goes there.
I set up a Zap that will post to the https://hub.youthpowercoalition.org/t/announcements-auto-posted-from-slack/638 topic whenever a new message is posted to the Slack channel.
Let’s see how it works.
Things I’m wondering:
- Where does https://hub.youthpowercoalition.org/t/announcements-auto-posted-from-slack/638 live? Currently, I put it in a locked Slack Notifications category which makes sense to me.
- How do we avoid annoying people who don’t need to read https://hub.youthpowercoalition.org/t/announcements-auto-posted-from-slack/638 at all because they’re reading it via Slack? Slack Notifications is automatically muted so perhaps that’s good enough!
- How do we distinguish between first level Slack messages and threaded replies? Right now the Zap doesn’t distinguish at all which is perhaps all right for channels that are light in replies (like announcements) but will be more difficult with things like general-coordination (soon to be renamed team-coordination)
